Having attended an excellent ‘Introduction to Fundraising’ course yesterday, I left with a 101 things buzzing round in my mind about getting back to basics.

One common theme I run up against when hosting/pitching for a charity event, is their obsession with full cost recovery, or cost/income ratios etc.

I’m frequently told that an hour phoning high net worth donors would be more beneficial than helping to organise an event. “Time is money Mr Elton” etc, etc

However, thanks to my eyes being opened by GIFT AID, I believe it is entirely possible for event, staff, equipment to be paid for by GIFT AID, via the donations these donors make.

Not through the extra 28p, but by the 23p a higher rate taxpayer gets back from the taxman.
