Hi, I have been challenged to source a software that will help my client run a fundraising division and the system needs to include:
Managing contacts and mailings
Process donations and store relevant information for large fundraising events. I have been advised that there may be 10 users of this system. As you can tell, this is not my area of expertise and I feel as though I am drowning.
I will contact the likes of Blackbaud and Fisk Brett which are names I have picked up whilst browsing this site. Can anyone suggest other suppliers I should contact, and are there any recommendations from others who use similar systems?
Hi Alexa
We at Purple Vision have done quite a lot of work for different clients helping them find and implement the right software solution. Hopefully I can offer you some tips…
Apart from FiskBrett with progress and Blackbaud with Raiser’s Edge – 2 very good solutions, others you may want to look at include Advantage Fundraiser from Redbourn Business Systems, Contacts from Care Business Solutions, Donor Strategy by Charity Soft, Charisma from CSG, ThankQ from ESIT, IMIS from Fisher Technology, and ETapestry – a web-based solution offered by a consultancy based in Scotland whose name escapes me at the moment.
The choice in this marketplace is growing and has really improved over recent years.
Choosing the right solution and implementing it are 2 different skills – but with the right approach I’m sure you’ll be fine.
Let me know if we can be of any help – check out http://www.pvsystems.co.uk and/or http://www.purple-vision.com for more about us – including our free download which gives some tips on how to approach these projects.

Hi,
I would suggest looking at http://www.itforcharities.co.uk. Although a bit out of date it still lists suppliers of Fundraising software.
I have always believed that it is best to choose the right supplier to build a relationship with over a number of years rather than all singing all dancing software which costs a lot of money. Most Fundraising software on the market will perform the same tasks with a massive difference in cost.
Don’t be put off by the smaller companies, they can provide excellent personal service for a lot less money.

Another good source of information about fundraising databases and choosing one is http://www.techsoup.org
Alan Owen’s absolutely right. In fact, he couldn’t have described donorflex better!
We’d be happy to chat to you, Alexa, and demonstrate why Keith Collins’ impressive list should really have been extended by one.
A good place to start would be http://www.donorflex.com, where news of the recent Institute of Fundraising Scotland Database Innovation award ~ won by Quarriers in partnership with us ~ gives a good idea of the kind of service her client could expect.

I used Download.com when looking for an easy to use CRM system and got a nice little application and it was froo also.
Its a good site and you can be lucky.
Hi Alexa
I work with Blackbaud and I would be more than happy to speak with you. The Raiser’s Edge may not be the best solution for you. That said I would be interested to find out more about what you do to understand if we can help you. My number is 0207 921 9616 if you want to get in touch.
Thanks
Alan
