I met a young charity donor yesterday who was explaining to me about the system he uses for charity donating.
On the 2nd of each month his bank, (the Halifax), deduct 2% of his balance, to the NSPCC.
He thought the scheme may date back to when he was working at Sainbury’s, but really didn’t have a clue how exactly the scheme worked.
It was also a bit hit and miss each month as to the value of the donation. If his phone bill was large the donation would be small, small phone bill = large donation.
Now this guy worked at a major High St clothing store, not on a huge annual salary, yet was more than happy for 2% of his bank balance to dissapear to charity.
Has anyone else heard of this scheme? It is clearly still running, but do Halifax Bank promote the scheme or another company like Pennies from Heaven?
