Moderators: Neasa Coen, Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP; others TBA
In this small-scale discussion forum, participants will be able to ask and learn about European cross-border giving from two subject experts. Suitable for donors, charities and trustees, this discussion will highlight case examples of how European freedom of movement is applied to philanthropy post-Persche. The speakers will also highlight different conditions for various tax reliefs available to European philanthropists.
As part of a small group, attendees will explore structures, reporting requirements and grant conditions for European donations. They will discuss the donation of both objects and cash, as well as how to manage relationships with domestic regulators. Whether setting up a new regional branch, setting up a charitable trust or working as part of an extensive grantmaking network, there are a number of subtleties between individual European nations of which trustees must be aware. Working across European borders presents a huge opportunity for projects and organisations to collaborate—this session is designed to help actors navigate a complex space more effectively. Through an interactive discussion and Q&A, the participants will learn about the financial, operational, legal and operational aspects of non-profit work across Europe.
This event is free for Philanthropy Impact members, non members: £30/£50. Please note places are limited.
