**Community360, the Essex charity that has supported local communities for almost
60 years, is to be placed into administration, its trustees have announced.**

In a statement posted on its website and social channels, the charity said its Board
of Trustees had made an “extremely difficult decision”, and that the formal appointment
of administrators is expected to take place next week.

## Financial challenges

Community360 said it had made extensive efforts to explore options for its future,
but that ongoing financial challenges mean it is no longer able to continue operating
in its current form.

The charity described its work as helping people across Essex to access vital services,
build connections and improve their wellbeing. It acknowledged that the news will
be upsetting and concerning for its service users, employees, volunteers and partners,
as well as the many people who have supported it over the years.

## Community Roots services to continue

The statement confirmed that services delivered through Community Roots will continue.
However, they will no longer operate as part of Community360 and will instead move
to a newly formed company. Further information about these arrangements will be
communicated separately “in due course”, the charity said.

Beyond Community Roots, the future of Community360’s other services is not yet clear.
The charity said it is working with its professional advisers to assess the next
steps, including whether any services may be able to continue through alternative
arrangements.

## Where to find updates

Further information and updates are available on the charity’s website at [community360.org.uk](https://community360.org.uk/).
For specific enquiries, the charity asks people to contact Nicki Millard and/or
Elena Sostar at Opus LLP.

The charity ended its statement by expressing its gratitude to everyone who has
been part of Community360 and who contributed to the difference it has made.
Other
local and regional support and infrastructure bodies for charities have had to close
in the past few years. **Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation**,
one of the largest local infrastructure organisations in the country, [collapsed in late 2024](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Manchester_Council_for_Voluntary_Organisation).**
Basildon, Billericay and Wickford CVS** closed in 2025. **Stronger Kent Communities**
announced in June that it would close at the end of September, citing the lack of
funding for its future operations.

Just two weeks ago the [Directory of Social Change announced it was closing](https://fundraising.co.uk/2026/10/15/directory-of-social-change-to-close-after-50-years/).
