**GoodBox has hit the milestone of a million donations given across its network
of contactless devices to date – raising ****more than £6m for good causes since
its inception in 2016.**

Last month (May 2021) was also a record for donations across its contactless devices.

Previous to this, the record month was December 2020 when the general public rallied
before the christmas lockdown and individual donations rose to just over 70,000
across the network of contactless devices.

May 2021 saw nearly a 10% increase on this with individual donations reaching almost
78,000. In a like for like comparison with May 2019 (as May 2020 was during lockdown)
the number of individual donations more than doubled from just over 32,000 in 2019
to nearly 78,000 in 2021.

The fintech’s range of digital fundraising tools and contactless technology are
used by museums, charities, religious organisations, theatres, retailers as well
as other organisations.

According to [GoodBox](https://www.goodbox.com/), the figures mirror a white paper
produced by the company last year, Charities and Coronavirus: Weathering the Storm,
which shows that during a recession, charitable giving often increases due to an
increase in more of the UK public giving in smaller amounts.

GoodBox Co-Founder & Managing Director Francesca Hodgson commented:

> “It is amazing to see the generosity of the UK public especially during such a
> difficult economic period and we are delighted to see so many of our charity partners
> benefitting from this.”
