**The National Garden Scheme is to sponsor a bursary fund for long-term charity
partner Marie Curie.**

The fund, which will now be known as the ‘National Garden Scheme Bursary Fund’,
helps pay for [Marie Curie](https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/) Nurses and other clinical
staff at the charity to undertake post-registered qualifications or specialist university
modules in palliative and end of life care. The aim is to raise levels of knowledge
and expertise among clinical staff and so provide the highest possible standards
of care and support.

Marie Curie and [National Garden Scheme](https://www.ngs.org.uk/) began their partnership
in 1996, with **more than £7 million** raised so far.

> people who open their gardens to support it for the funding they provide to us
> and the difference that this makes to our nursing staff.
> “This bursary fund supported

> to further their qualifications in palliative and end of life care. It will go
> a long way to helping more of our nurses feel more confident in making those important
