**Social care and health charity [change, grow, live](http://www.changegrowlive.org)(
CGL) is inviting Birmingham charities and not-for-profit groups to apply for grants
of up to £2,500 to support their work in the community.**

The grants scheme is designed to help improve the lives of adults (over 18s) experiencing
difficulties with substance misuse, including their families and carers. It launched
last June and seven organisations have so far received grants.

Grant recipients so far have ranged from football teams to a lunch club for vulnerable
adults. All the successful applicants run projects or activities that benefit the
community in Birmingham, and somehow help people who have drug or alcohol addictions,
through physical activity or positive mental wellbeing.

CGL is now seeking more organisations to apply for funds, which must be spent within
12 months of the grant being allocated.

Priority will be given to applications from organisations whose proposals meet the
following objectives:

 * Reductions in reoffending
 * Improved housing
 * Improved parenting
 * Increased levels of employment
 * Effective child safeguarding
 * Improvements in physical and mental health

Kirsty Mason from CGL said:

> “We’ve seen what a difference these projects can make in the lives of the most
> vulnerable people in Birmingham, something as simple as a being part of a football
> team or a lunch club can change the direction of someone’s life. We’re looking
> forward to working with more organisations in coming months who are deserving
> of a grant that can make a real difference in the local community.”

Applications can be made via the [change, grow, live website](http://www.changegrowlive.org/content/birmingham-charities-and-community-groups-invited-apply-grants),
and will be considered by a change, grow, live panel, led by service users and supported
by senior staff.
