**A man with Alzheimer’s and his son whose videos of their carpool karaoke sessions
have gone viral have so far raised more than £75,000 for [Alzheimer’s Society](https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/),
with the total tripling in the last week.**

Ted McDermott has sung throughout his life, as a Butlins Redcoat, and in clubs around
the country. Despite suffering from Alzheimer’s, he can still remember the words
to many songs, and has earned himself the nickname the Songaminute Man.

His son Mac started fundraising via JustGiving in June for Alzheimer’s Society by
posting videos of their in-car song sessions to thank the charity for the support
given by its phoneline since Ted’s diagnosis, with an initial target of £1,000.
Their videos have gone viral, raising £26,500 by 9^(th) August, with the total then
tripling in a week.
