# Record level of membership for Institute of Fundraising

**The [Institute of Fundraising](http://www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk/) (IoF)
has reported record levels of membership at the organisation’s AGM today. **

Both individual membership and organisational membership are at their highest level
ever, with over 5,700 fundraisers and over 475 charities and fundraising agencies
now members of the IoF.

Individual membership has grown by 3% year on year. Figures reported at the AGM 
from the IoF’s Annual Report also show a rise in finances. 2015/16 saw incoming 
resources to the IoF rise to £4.9m, from £4.7m in 2014/15, with outgoing resources
of £4.6m, compared with £4.5m in 2014/15. This resulted in a total surplus of £0.33m.

The AGM also reported plans for the future direction of the membership body, including
the merger with the [Public Fundraising Association](http://www.pfra.org.uk/) (PFRA),
which is expected to take place later this month. Once merged, the IoF and PFRA 
will invest in a new compliance service to help support fundraisers to comply with
regulations and to promote best practice. The Institute will also invest in external
communications to strengthen the voice of the fundraising community.

Richard Taylor, chair of the IoF, said:

> “These figures show that the Institute is in a strong position to be able to do
> even more to support excellent fundraising in the future. With record membership,
> a strong financial position, and the planned merger with the PFRA, the Institute
> is looking forward to supporting and championing fundraisers in the years ahead.”
