# EDF Energy raises almost £1 million for Marie Curie - Link: https://fundraising.co.uk/2016/06/08/edf-energy-raises-almost-1m-marie-curie/ - Published: 2016-06-08T09:15:09+01:00 - Author: Melanie May **EDF Energy has announced that it has raised more than £945,000 during its three- year partnership with [Marie Curie](http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/‎).** The company exceeded its initial fundraising target of £300,000 in the first 15 months, and has raised enough to pay for over 48,250 nursing hours. To raise the funds, employees undertook hundreds of activities, from hosting tea parties and bake sales across its 30 sites, to climbing Kilimanjaro and cycling the length of Great Britain. The company’s Business Energy Services team also donated a £40,000 service to help identify and implement energy efficiency improvements at Marie Curie’s nine hospices. In addition to raising funds, EDF Energy’s Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) network also worked to raise awareness of the charity to help more people from ethnic minority communities better understand the services that Marie Curie provides. ## Advertisement [⌊Posthub advert. Until then, the company will be supporting the British Paralympic Association’s campaign to [Supercharge ParalympicsGB](http://rio.paralympics.org.uk/supercharge), raising funds to support British athletes competing at Rio 2016 and beyond.
