**Irish American Chuck Feeney and Carmel and Martin Naughton have been named as
philanthropists of the year by the [Community Foundation for Ireland](http://www.foundation.ie).**

Xilinx, an American technology company, won the Corporate Philanthropy of the Year
award for 10 years of strategic community partnerships in Ireland.

Chuck Feeney’s Atlantic Philanthropies has invested over $1.2 billion in the Republic
of Ireland to strengthen and grow the higher education system, stimulate a knowledge
economy, protect and expand human and civil rights, and transform the design and
delivery of services for children, older adults and people with disabilities. $554
million was allocated in Northern Ireland.

Martin and Carmel Naughton have given significant funding to the National Art Gallery
and provided scholarships to promote the study of engineering, science and technology
by third-level students through the Naughton Foundation.

They have also made a major contribution to the history of art and architecture
in Ireland though their support for the Royal Irish Academy, which nominated them
for the award.

This year’s National and Corporate winners join other well-known philanthropists
such as last year’s winners Brendan O’Carroll, Jim and Adeline Callery, BNY Mellon
and previous winners including Keith Duffy, John Concannon, Diageo, Vodafone Ireland
Foundation, Mairead Sorenson, Mark FitzGerald and Declan Ryan in being awarded the
accolade.
