**Now in its sixth year, the charity photo competition is open to all staff and
volunteers at NCVO member organisations, their service users and beneficiaries,
and professional photographers who are connected to a member organisation or have
taken photographs on their behalf.**

This year’s deadline is 18^(th) March, and the theme is connections: entries must
depict a form of connection made by charities, such as connections between people,
to a cause, or to an activity.

The best entries will be exhibited at NCVO’s annual conference on 18 April with
winners in three categories: photographs taken by staff and volunteers, by service
users and beneficiaries, and by professional photographers connected to a member
organisation.

The judging panel will include NCVO chair Sir Martyn Lewis CBE, and PhotoVoice chief
executive Tom Elkins. Prizes include a year’s free PhotoVoice membership, free entry
to NCVO’s annual conference and £250 print credit for the winners in each category.

NCVO and PhotoVoice are also offering [free photography guidance](https://knowhownonprofit.org/how-to/how-to-take-better-photographs)
for charities on how they can develop their skills. A guide, ‘How to take better
photographs’ is available on NCVO’s website and will be followed by additional online
resources.

[Entry to the NCVO and PhotoVoice competition](https://www.ncvo.org.uk/members-area/photo-competition)
is online via the NCVO site. Last year’s competition attracted over 120 entries,
with the staff and volunteer category won by Contact the Elderly, and the beneficiary
category won by Anthony Nolan.

Sir Martyn Lewis CBE, chair of NCVO, said:

> “The NCVO and PhotoVoice photo competition is a fantastic way for charities to
> showcase in one brilliant photo the difference they make, and this year’s theme
> of connections should provide plenty of inspiration. Last year we received entries
> from the full breadth of the voluntary sector. I look forward to seeing what people
> submit this year and wish all participants the best of luck.”
