**[Child.org](http://child.org/) is inviting people to apply for its Charity Apprentice
2016 course, which aims to train apprentices in the practical skills and experience
that they need to gain a job in the sector.**

The part-time, year long course takes place online with the option of a four-week
work placement with the charity’s partners in Kenya or Uganda. During the course,
apprentices will develop their own fundraising campaigns, learn about marketing
and brand, run their own social enterprise, and pitch corporate fundraising products.

Applications opened in November, and 50 places are available. The course costs £
1250, or £550 for those opting out of the four weeks in Africa. For the first time
this year, the course has also awarded two scholarships. Places on the course have
been subsidised by grant-making foundation [Sofronie](http://sofronie.org/), which
has also covered the costs of the two scholarship places.

Ellie Dawes who manages the Charity Apprentice course said:

> “Charity Apprentice is all about training the world-changing charity leaders of
> the future. I’m thrilled that, thanks to support from Sofronie, we are able to
> offer two applicants the chance to take on Charity Apprentice who might otherwise
> have found the price a barrier.”
