# Colourful socks to raise funds and awareness

**Stand4 is a new social enterprise that is raising awareness of and funds for social
causes through the medium of colourful socks.**

Set up by 24 year-old Josh Turner from Stowmarket, Stand4’s focus on socks is the
first of its attempts to “re-engage consumers with charities through everyday products”.

At launch there are 10 designs, each of which is linked to the eight United Nations
Millennium Development Goals. Stand4 has already partnered with WarChild, WomanKind,
and Mines Advisory Group.

## Shortlisted for award

The company has been shortlisted in the ‘Social Enterprise of the Year’ category
in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2015.

Turner said:

> top social enterprises in 2015, especially as we are only just launching! I have
> always loved colourful, eccentric socks, but I am also conscious of the issues
> some people face in the world today. My start-up was always going to build a social
> purpose at its core”.
