**IT service provider BMC Azurri has supported a charity to develop a Braille overlay
for touchscreen till users in charity shops. This will give visually impaired staff
and volunteers new and wider opportunities.**

The Braille overlays are in use in the four shops run by the [WESC Foundation](http://www.wescfoundation.ac.uk),
a complex educational and research centre. Since they were implemented many staff,
volunteers and learners have gained new experiences in the charity’s retail operations.

The invention has been nominated for the Charity Times Award for best use of technology.
The winners will be announced tomorrow.

with complex needs.

Alastair Petrie, General Manager of BMC Azurri, said:

> “With National Braille Week just around the corner, we are keen to highlight the
> importance of developments and innovations such as this, which help businesses
> offer greater opportunities to braille users, and allow them to become more involved
> with their community”.

[National Braille Week](https://www.royalblind.org/national-braille-week) takes
place from 5 -11 October 2015, coinciding with World Sight Day, and is organised
by the charity Royal Blind.
