**Microsoft is running a social media competition to find 10 UK charities who will
each receive a donation of $50,000, or around £32,800. The winners will be those
that secure the most votes on social media.**

Microsoft’s [Upgrade Your World](https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/UpgradeYourWorld/)
initiative coincided with the launch of Windows 10, the new version of its PC operating
system. The company said it would donate a total of $10 million to 10 global and
100 local charity partners in countries round the world.

The winning charities will also receive technology and support from Microsoft, such
as skilled volunteering.

the public to help it choose 10 more in each of 10 countries – Australia, China,
France, Germany, India, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United
States.
