Scope and Virgin Media have agreed a two-year partnership in which the company will
apply its dgital technology skills and services to help transform the lives of disabled
people and their families.

The £1 million partnership, [Scope](http://www.scope.org.uk)‘s largest corporate
partnership, will focus on three areas:

· inspiring independence – providing disabled people with access to technology that
enables them to communicate, control their home environment and independently access
education and employment.

· connecting families – digitally connecting parents of disabled children with other
parents facing similar issues.

· End the Awkward – Virgin Media will work with Scope to change attitudes to disability
through the charity’s [End the Awkward](http://www.scope.org.uk/awkward) campaign.
Two thirds of people feel awkward around disability.

## Accessibility

Virgin Media will encourage its 13,600 employees and its customers to support these
initiatives. In return Scope will work with the company to help improve the accessibility
of its workplaces and services for disabled employees and customers.

Brigitte Trafford, chief corporate affairs officer at [Virgin Media](http://virginmedia.com/sustainability),
says:

> “We’re delighted to announce this major new partnership with Scope. They have
> been instrumental in helping us better serve our disabled customers. This partnership
> will help us transform the lives of disadvantaged people in the UK through digital
> technology.”
