# Free list of Foundations in the USA

I see from the latest newsletter from [GuideStar](http://www.guidestar.org/) [USA]
that GuideStar and the [Council on Foundations](http://www.cof.org/) have announced
a new partnership.

GuideStar describes itself as the largest source of nonprofit information, connecting
people and organizations with information on more than 1.8 million IRS-recognized
nonprofits. The Council on Foundations describes itself as a nonprofit leadership
association of grantmaking foundations and corporations. Nonmembers may view a [list](http://www.cof.org/members-directory/non-members)
of (c 1,800+) members and their websites.
