# JustTextGiving donations have now passed £22 million

Vodafone UK has announced that more than £22 million has been donated in the past
three years via its text donation service JustTextGiving, created in partnership
with JustGiving and the Vodafone Foundation.

**Over 21,000 charities** have used the service since it [launched in May 2011](https://www.fundraising.co.uk/2011/05/09/justgiving-and-vodafone-launch-free-text-donation-service/),
and **2.5 million donations** have been made.

Charities have also benefited from the 187,000 people who have used the platform
to fundraise for them.

## Ice Bucket Challenge

JustTextGiving was used extensively during the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in August
this year, handling **over 800,000 text donations worth more than £4 million** to
the multiple charities that benefited from their supporters taking the challenge.

It has also [handled donations for ITV’s Text Santa](https://www.fundraising.co.uk/2011/11/17/justtextgiving-power-itv039s-text-santa-campaign/)
campaign.

Vodafone Group Foundation Director Andrew Dunnett said:

> “JustTextGiving has changed the face of fundraising in the UK by allowing charities
> of all sizes to tap in to the increasing trend for mobile giving.”
