For the first time the Evening Standard and The Independent newspapers have launched
a joint Christmas charity appeal.

The titles are joined by The Independent on Sunday, The i, London Live, and i100
to appeal on behalf of two service charities – ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and Veterans
Aid. The focus of the appeal is on [homeless veterans](http://www.homelessveterans.co.uk/).

The campaign, the biggest run by the publications’ parent media group, marks the
centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. It is supported by the Garfield
Weston Foundation.
