The BBC is inviting nominations of inspiring people who make a difference in other
people’s lives to be rewarded by taking part in the first People’s Strictly Come
Dancing.

The broadcaster announced:

> “For the first time ever, the team that brings you Strictly Come Dancing is opening
> its dance floor to the public and we’re looking for inspiring everyday heroes
> to go on this incredible journey”.

This is clearly an unusual opportunity for charities to reward their outstanding
supporters and volunteers. As the BBC says, the kind of people it expects to be
nominated include “tireless charity workers, foster parents, emergency services
workers or simply those who have done such extraordinary things for others that
their story must be told”.

Applicants must be 18 years old or over. the closing date for nominations is **31
October 2014**.

It’s certainly an unusual opportunity and different to the standard awards ceremonies
for outstanding volunteers and supporters.

That said, there are plenty of charities that have run or benefited from Strictly-
type fundraising events, so maybe review all your fundraising dance events and see
which organisers or participants deserve this reward.
