Entrepreneur and former chair of the British Fashion Council, Harold Tillman CBE,
has joined Dynamo, Magician Impossible, to launch Patrons of Variety.  A core group
of 50 high net worth individuals will each pledge to give £10,000 a year for three
years, raising a total of £1.5 million for Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The Patrons of Variety will be launched on 29 September at an event on the 72nd
floor of The Shard in London. Guests will experience a Lanson champagne reception,
with canapés from The London Kitchen, whilst taking in the views across London.
They will then continue to Vinopolis for a three-course dinner, serenaded by soprano
Laura Wright, before Dynamo arrives to conclude the entertainment.

Harold Tillman said:

> “The work that Variety, the Children’s Charity, performs on a daily basis is nothing
> short of magical, so it is entirely appropriate that Dynamo would want to be at
> the event to offer his support. The Patrons of Variety group has a huge role to
> play in the future of this prestigious charity, and we’re delighted to be able
> to launch in such spectacular style.”

Dynamo added:

> “The dedicated volunteers of [Variety](http://www.variety.org.uk) are masters
> at working a very real form of magic – conjuring crucial funds for the most worthy
> of recipients. But these funds don’t appear out of thin air, which is why the
> creation of the Patrons of Variety is such a massive deal. I can’t wait to perform
> on the night, and know that the backdrop of The Shard will make the perfect location
> to put on a show those attending will never forget.”

The sum pledged by the Patrons of Variety represents a substantial proportion of
the charity’s annual income. It’s 2013 annual report reveals that it raised £6.5m
throughout the year.
