# Lloyds Banking Group raises £4 million for Alzheimer charities

Staff at Lloyds Banking Group have raised £4 million for  Alzheimer’s Society and
Alzheimer Scotland in just 17 months. This is double the original two year target.

The [partnership began in January 2013](https://www.fundraising.co.uk/2013/01/13/lloyds-banking-group-chooses-alzheimer039s-society-and-alzheimer-scotland-charity-year-partnership/)
with the launch of the Live Well campaign, the two charities’ first national support
programme for people with dementia and their carers.

It reached the £2 million target within the first year, so the additional money 
being raised earmarked for more support materials for carers. Any funds raised above
the current total of £4 million will support the Dementia Research Leaders Programme,
which is looking at prevention and trying to find a cure for the condition.

Fundraising activities included a coast to coast cycle challenge in Costa Rica and‘
Tea and Talk’ events in branches.
