The Leo Group Community Fund is inviting applications for funding from Bradford
and Calderdale charities and good causes that work with children and young people.

Since its launch in 2011, the Community Fund has made grants totalling more than
£20,000: 13 organisations have already been awarded grants of up to £2,500 each.

The fund is particularly keen to hear from good causes involved in **sporting**
activities as well as **cultural, educational and environmental** projects.

Leo Group is a waste management company that specialises in the collection and processing
of animal by-products.

Leo Group communications manager Melanie Rosser said:

> “As a major employer in both districts, we are proud to be at the heart of the
> community and – through the fund – have created a platform for injecting cash
> back into it to benefit local people long-term”.

Liaison Officer) of the Leo Group; Carol Pratt, a visual impairment support worker
at Chellow Heights Special School, Bradford; and pupil Mamoon Din. The school was
one of the recipients of a grant from last year’s Leo Group Community Fund awards.
Teachers used the money to develop a library of tactile books which they can use
in an interactive approach to enable pupils to “read with their hands” for the first
time.

Organisations that have received grants in the past include:

 * Chellow Heights Special School in Bradford for a library of tactile books for
   visually impaired pupils
 * St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School in Clayton for diamond jubilee polo shirts
   for pupils
 * Home-Start Calderdale

Last year more than 50 charities applied to the fund.
