# Morrisons chooses Sue Ryder as its new charity partner

In the week that it announced a [record total of £7 million for its previous charity partner Save the Children](https://www.fundraising.co.uk/2014/01/29/morrisons-raises-7m-save-children/),
Morrisons has announced that its new partner will be [Sue Ryder](http://www.sueryder.org).
As before, the charity was voted for by the retailer’s employees.

The partnership formally gets underway on 2 February.

The funds that are expected to be raised will enable Sue Ryder to

 * establish Morrisons “Community Clinics”, making local services and care available
   for more families across the UK;
 * introduce “Morrisons Mobile Units” bringing advice and information to communities
   and
 * introduce “Morrisons Family Support Teams” supporting families emotionally and
   practically through terminal and incurable illness.

Sue Ryder’s Chief Executive Heidi Travis said:

Sue Ryder’s corporate fundraising team recently enjoyed success with a partnership
with The Daily Mail. The newspape’rs 2013 Christmas appeal invited readers to support
the charity’s hospice care, and this raised £108,100 during December 2013.
