**Network mapping seems to be a bit of a hot topic at the moment. There was an interesting
[discussion](http://www.linkedin.com/groupItem?view=&gid=142179&type=member&item=5811061887005134851&goback=.nmp_*1_*1_*1_*1_*1_*1_*1_*1_*1_*1&trk=nmp_rec_act_group_discussion)
recently on LinkedIn about [Prospect Visual](http://site.prospectvisual.com/), which
led to a number of other suggestions being made. **

I mentioned a couple of things which were mentioned at the recent [Researchers in Fundraising](http://www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk/groups/sig-researchers/)(
RiF) conference:

 * [mapper.nndb.com](http://mapper.nndb.com/) – map connections and build a matrix
   specific to your organisation
 * [muckety.com](http://www.muckety.com/) – a number of pre-mapped webs, searchable
   by specified criteria
 * Factary has developed [Atom](http://factary.com/what-we-do/atom-network-mapping/)–
   a network mapping for the non-profit sector

The LinkedIn discussion included mind mapping software like Mind Maple ([www.mindmaple.com](http://www.mindmaple.com/)),“
a very simple mapping tool that lets you build your own network from scratch”.
Someone
suggested (via LinkedIn) looking at [Nodexecel](http://nodexl.codeplex.com/) – an
Excel add-on that allows you to visualise spreadsheet data in a mind-map or graph
format.RiF is thinking of getting a group together to discuss this issue and explore
options for the UK market. Contact [Sacha Newman](https://fundraising.co.uk/2013/12/30/network-mapping-tools-prospect-researchers/re*********@**************************rg.uk)
if you are interested in getting involved.
