The National Union of Students (NUS) has announced the 25 universities that will
receive a total of £5 million for environmental sustainability projects.

The [Students' Green Fund](http://www.studentsgreenfund.org.uk/) is managed by the
NUS for the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). The student-led
environmental sustainability projects will be run through students' unions in partnership
with their parent institutions.

Projects funded range from the sustainable food focus of ‘Sheffield on a plate’,
to the community focused ‘Guerrilla Gardeners’ in Newcastle, and Staffordshire’s‘
Green Pad’ on sustainable housing. They are expected to engage over 50,000 students
over the next two years.

The NUS received applications from 105 unions.
