Andrews & Partners, the estate and lettings agency with branches across the south
of England, has made a £394,688 payment with Gift Aid to Andrews Charitable Trust(
ACT), the majority shareholder of the business.

The company makes a large annual payment each year to the trust, and has given more
than £1 million over the past five years. The gift comprises the majority of the
grant-making trust's funding.

ACT was established in 1965, initially as the Phyllis Trust. It provides seed-corn**
funding for new charities** over two to seven year periods. It was founded by entrepreneur
and humanitarian Cecil Jackson-Cole.

Andrews & Partners was established in 1946 and has had charitable ties from the
outset, through funding and encouraging staff to get involved with charitable projects.

Its annual gift to ACT makes Andrews & Partners "the only UK estate and lettings
agency to operate with such a model". In addition to the gift, four working Directors
act as co-trustees, donating up to ten days a year to ACT and the charities it supports.

Michael Robson, Chief Executive at [Andrews & Partners](http://andrewsonline.co.uk/),
said: "Social responsibility is right at the heart of Andrews – it always has been
and always will be.

"Despite the ongoing economic troubles, the business performed well in 2012. We
were delighted to be able to make such a significant contribution to the [Andrews Charitable Trust](http://www.andrewscharitabletrust.org.uk/)
this year, and see it as an indicator that recovery is on the horizon."

## Grants available

ACT awards grants to a wide range of charitable projects dealing with issues such
as homelessness and domestic violence, as well as helping communities in third world
countries to become self-sustaining.

During 2013-14 the trust expects to prioritise charitable ideas which focus on care
for the elderly and tackling social barriers to educational achievement, especially
for girls.

Since 2008, ACT has awarded £1.2 million in grants, and last year it received 331
applications for funding. **The trust is currently seeking applications** from charities
that require funding. There is no deadline for applications.
