The Foundation for Social Improvement (the FSI) has selected four individuals working
at small charities to participate in a  professional and personal development programme,
valued at over £2,000 for each place.

The programme is designed to help develop "rising stars" in the small charity sector,
who may not otherwise have the opportunity to access similar learning programmes.

At the heart of the programme is the Edexcel-accredited Level 3 Award in Fundraising
Practice delivered by the FSI, the charity that works to support an effective and
sustainable small charity sector.

The Scholars programme will provide strategic training and mentoring over 12 months
across all aspects of fundraising and charity practice and governance.

The FSI chose four people who in their application "demonstrated the greatest passion
for fundraising and the charity sector alongside innovation, commitment and a willingness
to experiment to overcome challenges".   The winners are:

 * Tamsyn Wymer from the African Children’s Fund

 * Sara Young from the Association of Carers

 * Lawrie Mallyon from Age UK Horsham District

 * Lynette Shanbury from Little Angel Theatre
