# Online charity bingo service set up by veteran fundraiser

has established an online bingo platform to enable individuals to play and raise
funds for their favourite charities.

 

The site is the idea of 71-year-old Wendy Hubbard. During the 1980s and 90s she 
was a fundraiser for The Arthritis and Rheumatism Council and was awarded the Gold
Award for Service and Achievement by ARC. She stopped taking an active role in fundraising
in the late 1990s due to health problems.

Together with her son, who works in the online gaming industry, she create MyCharityBingo.
com.  The site integrates with JustGiving’s API, so players can support any of the
8,000 charities registered on JustGiving. They can support a charity directly, through
a friend’s JustGiving fundraising page, or simply support the charity of the month.

 

For every £1 deposited, 75p is received by the charity. The remaining 25p per pound
helps fund server and 24-hour chat and support costs. The company hopes to reduce
this admin fee further.

 

The gaming technology is provided by Functionalgames.com in Sweden: they supply 
the site free of charge in partnership with bingo website provider Canada-based 
Aberrant Software.
