A plaque to Redmond Mullin, one of the founders of the Institute of Fundraising,
has been unveiled at the Institute’s London office. The memorial pays tribute to
his work and contribution to the creation and develop of the Institute, and to his
work to raise the professionalism of fundraisers across the UK.

Mullin died in October 2011. A [group of friends and associates contributed to the memorial](https://www.fundraising.co.uk/collection-launched-memorial-redmond-mullin).

Peter Lewis, Chief Executive of the Institute of Fundraising, said: “We would not
be here today without Redmond. His work for fundraising was immense. This plaque
is a permanent reminder of who he was and his invaluable contribution to the sector.”

Mark Astarita, Chair of the Institute, said: “Redmond was a legend in fundraising.
Not only that, he was a great man too. His legacy is undisputed.”

Mullin’s work included devising the first training programme for fundraisers, and
developing the Institute’s annual National Convention. The 2012 Convention takes
place this coming week.

Astarita added: “Redmond demonstrated to fundraisers, legislators and members of
the public the need for a professional body to represent the needs of our profession.
Without the commitment and efforts of Redmond and his colleagues the Institute would
not be the well regarded body it is today.”
