Membership of YouTube’s nonprofit programme has become even more useful, now that
all 16,000 members of the programme in the USA, UK, Australia and Canada have been
given the facility to broadcast live from their channels on the video-sharing site.

The company announced the move on its blog yesterday ([An update to the YouTube Nonprofit Program goes live](http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/2012/03/update-to-youtube-nonprofit-program.html)),
saying: “Nonprofits, from small to large, will now be able to engage live audiences
in charity concerts, conferences, and other special events to raise awareness about
their causes and drive donations in real-time”.

The live-streaming function is being given to nonprofits ahead of for-profit organisations.
