The National Twotto is a new Twitter-based lottery for UK Twitter users that, if
it attracts enough followers and sponsors, will distribute £1,000 a week to charity.

Created by Manchester-based web developer Jono Casley, Twotto costs nothing to play.
Instead, the weekly jackpot prize of £1,000 and charity donation of £1,000 will
be paid for by sponsors. In return sponsors can promote their product or service
to all those people taking part in the lottery by following @NationalTwotto on Twitter.

The jackpot prize is given to one follower selected at random. The charity receiving
the £1,000 donation is selected by the follower who has recruited the most followers
to the lottery.

National Twotto won’t take place until it attracts 100,000 followers. Its website
states: “Twotto is a philanthropic experiment.” Casley commented: “When we reach
this goal, then and only then, will our first sponsor start to Tweet and the first
lottery be drawn.”

He added: “Each week there will be a prize fund equivalent to 1% of our player count
in pounds. So 100,000 players equals a jackpot of £1,000.”

His ultimate aim is to expand Twotto to 1 million followers and ‘players’.
