Rosh Hashanah Appeal 2011 c.jpg)

Norwood is once again calling on members of the Jewish Community to support its
Rosh Hashanah appeal and help it reach a fundraising target of £100,000. The money
it generates will make a real difference to the lives of thousands of people with
learning disabilities, and children and families in need, who rely on the support
provided by Norwood each year.

The direct mail, advertising and online appeal focuses on Sara, 22, just one of
the many people who use the Charity’s life-changing services. Like most people,
Sara has hopes and dreams for the future, such as finding a job and maybe one day
even having a home of her own. However, she was born with Cerebral Palsy, which
severely affects her mobility and ability to communicate. She therefore requires
constant support to help her live life her way. Norwood and its specialist staff
and services have provided Sara with an individual programme of support designed
to help her achieve her dreams and wishes. She also benefits from state-of-the-art
assistive technology, which helps her to perform some daily tasks on her own.

Sara, who lives in residential accommodation in Ravenswood, Norwood’s residential
community in Berkshire, now enjoys shopping, meeting new friends and going out for
lunch. Norwood has given Sara and her family a brighter future and she can now look
forward to a really fulfilling life.

Each year, Norwood supports over 7,000 people like Sara to live the life they choose.

Norma Brier, Chief Executive of Norwood, said: “Rosh Hashanah is a time when we
reflect on the past 12 months and look forward to the year ahead. Norwood has achieved
much since last year and through our support, thousands of people like Sara are
also being given the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

“However, during these difficult economic times, we need the Community’s support
more than ever to ensure we can continue to provide the life-changing services that
help so many vulnerable children and adults live life their way and achieve their
hopes and dreams.”

Where your money will go:

• £25 will purchase resources for art therapy sessions for children.
