Less than four years after the establishment of its Tribute Fund programme, the
Meningitis Trust has received over £2 million in donations.

The programme enables families to set up a fund, offering a positive way to remember
a loved one by fundraising for the Trust in their memory. So far 265 individuals
have been remembered in this way.

Nora Stevenson, mother of Danny and a Tribute Fund holder, said: “We find comfort
in the fact that Danny’s memory lives on through his Tribute Fund and all the people
that knew and loved him, and those that were not fortunate to meet him, continue
to raise money in his name to help others.”

In March 2009 the Trust opened a memorial garden at their head office in Stroud,
which serves as a permanent tribute to those who have died from meningitis. When
a Tribute Fund raises over £5,000 an oak peg, engraved with the name of the person
they are remembering, is placed in the garden. There are now over 62 pegs in the
garden.
