# New Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Alzheimer's Society

Liz Showell is to be the new Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Alzheimer’s
Society. She will take up the role in August 2011, taking over from Jo Swinhoe.

She is currently Director of Fundraising at The Children’s Society, and has worked
in the charity sector for 20 years, holding senior positions at the Red Cross, Guide
Dogs, WSPA and the NSPCC.

Showell, a judge in this year’s National Fundraising Awards, said: “In ten years
a million people will be living with dementia. Fundraising has such a vital role
to play in ensuring that we support those people to live well and also fund research
to find a cure.”
