Actress Alison Steadman features in Marie Curie Cancer Care’s first ever commercial
for TV and cinema this month, promoting the charity’s annual Great Daffodil Appeal.

Alison’s mother was cared for by Marie Curie nurses during her final months and
the actress explains in the advert how she wears her daffodil each March to say
thank you to the nurses.

The advert airs throughout March and asks viewers to show their support for the
charity by wearing a daffodil this month.

The TV advert is part of a wider campaign for the Great Daffodil Appeal developed
by media agency UM London. The campaign includes a partnership with Classic FM radio
and a Facebook campaign that aims to get people sharing their stories about how
Marie Curie Nurses have helped their loved ones.

The campaign got underway yesterday with 30 iconic landmarks being illuminated daffodil
yellow, from London’s Piccadilly Lights to Scotland’s Inverness Castle. Indeed the
Piccadilly advertising screens all turned yellow yesterday for one hour as the site
owner Land Securities and advertisers Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Samsung, and TDK all
give up their advertising space for an hour to raise awareness of Marie Curie’s
appeal.
