Supporters of animal charities, and cat charities in particular, are more likely
to make a donation to their favourite charity when sending a Valentine’s Day e-card,
than supporters of other causes, according to fundraising greetings card firm, Charity
Greetings.

It analysed all Valentine’s Day e-cards sold last year, and discovered 41% of them
were supporting cat charities. The site raises money for more than 130 charities,
including Help for Heroes, Diabetes UK and Cats Protection.

Furthermore, three out of four people who sent a Valentine’s Day e-card using their
site also made an additional donation. On average, people added an extra donation
of £2.70 per e-card, meaning that charities raised £3.70 per e-card sold.

Founder Craig Hartzel said: “Valentine’s Day is a day to do something special for
our loved ones, and this clearly now extends to our favourite animals.” He suggested
that e-cards were particularly useful to those who left it to the last minute to
buy a card.
