French business school ESSEC has launched a Philanthropy Chair with the objective
of studying, enhancing and promoting the knowledge of philanthropy and its role
in France and Europe. The school has partnered with [BNP Paribas Wealth Management](http://www.wealthmanagement.bnpparibas.com),
the first private French bank to provide philanthropic services to its clients.

The Philanthropy Chair has been established within ESSEC’s Institute of Innovation
and Social Entrepreneurship (IIES). Philanthropy Chair Full Professor Anne-Claire
Pache will focus on the challenges associated with the creation, strategic development
and management of philanthropic initiatives.

Professor Pache said: “Most knowledge in the area of philanthropy currently comes
from the United States. Yet there are new, unique challenges associated with European
philanthropy. Today there’s an important need for us to complement this rich American
body of knowledge with European academic research. This is what makes the Philanthropy
Chair truly relevant.”
