Mavis Rennie died in Melbourne, Australia on 17 January 2011, aged 46, having held
senior fundraising positions in the UK and Australia. She began her career in above
and below the line advertising agencies in the UK, before joining international
aid organisation CARE International in the UK, first as Direct Marketing Manager
and then Head of Fundraising. Before relocating to Australia permanently, Mavis

for a team that generated an annual income of $20m from the private sector. Between
1997 and 2001, she was Fundraising and Marketing Director for Greenpeace in Australia-
Pacific. Later on, she worked for and provided expertise to a number of not-for-
profit organisations in Australia including Oxfam, The Climate Group, Bush Heritage
Australia and The Climate Institute. A friend described her as “tiny, talented,
admired and respected by friends, colleagues and suppliers”, adding that she “will
be much missed by many around the world”. She is survived by two young sons. A memorial
service is being held for Mavis on 18 February 2011. For more details email me***********@********
