The John Lewis Partnership is again inviting charities to apply to take secondees
from John Lewis and Waitrose for up to six months.

The company funds employees, or ‘Partners’, from John Lewis and Waitrose to take
six months from their usual job, fully paid, to spend on a significant secondment
in a charity of their choice. Charities that have benefited in recent years have
ranged from UK-wide charities such as The National Trust and the RSPCA, to local
hospices and Citizens Advice Bureaux in specific regions.

The offer was made as the Partnership announced that it had donated 23,790 hours
of staff secondments to charities during 2010, the highest number of hours since
the scheme began 10 years ago. To mark the anniversary, the Partnership provided
an extra £50,000 to help fund ten additional secondments. Partners have now contributed
over 200,000 hours to charities over the past decade.

[Chris Jones, Manager of the Golden Jubilee Trust](https://www.fundraising.co.uk/mailto:ch***********@**********co.uk)
which handles the volunteering programme at The John Lewis Partnership, said: “We
are thrilled to have been able to donate more hours than ever in 2010 – especially
when so many businesses have had to cut back in this area. We want to extend our
reach even further in 2011 so I would encourage charities of all sizes to approach
us if they’d like to find out more about how they might benefit from The Golden
Jubilee Trust”.
