Aid agency CARE International UK has announced that daytime TV presenter Kate Garraway
is to act as an ambassador of its new micro-lending website lendwithcare.org.

The website lets people lend from as little as £15 to entrepreneurs in the world’s
poorest countries, to help get their business plans off the ground. The micro-lender’s
contribution is then repaid at the end of the loan, or they can choose to re-invest
in another would-be entrepreneur, or the can donate to CARE’s work.

Garraway said: “I was really drawn to this campaign because, having recently set
up the discount website goodypass.com, I have become an entrepreneur myself and
so I can appreciate how hard and frustrating it must be for those who are living
in poverty and trying to set up a business, with no access to any financial services
or other support.”

“The lendwithcare.org website gives people access to finance, as people like us
invest in their business by sending them as little as £15. I want to encourage as
many people as possible in the UK to lend their money to some of these people, to
give them the opportunity of providing a better future for themselves and their
families.”

The entrepreneur receives 100% of the loan that they requested; no administrative
charges are deducted from the entrepreneur’s loan.
