Very interesting approach to both on-line fundraising, as well as product promotion.
Starting today Google Chrome (Internet browser) users can install an [extension](http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/p/cause/#tnc)
which will measure the amount of their open browser tabs and allocate funds to a
cause of their choice accordingly. “The chrome for a cause extension will count
your tabs while you browse the web. At the end of the day, you’ll be asked to choose
a charity to receive your tabs. Every day between December 15 and 19 presents the
chance to contribute your tabs, so you can choose to support the same charity or
pick a different one each day.”

The campaign runs only for a few days, but I am sure it will raise awareness about
this piece of increasingly popular and effective software.

Update: (you might also like the Google’s “[Zeitgeist 2010: Year in Review](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0QXB5pw2qE)”–
same rules of promotion and good timing apply there – something to learn from;))
