Justcoz.org offers a new way to use Twitter to help promote charitable causes. Founder
[Jeff Pulver](http://pulverblog.pulver.com/archives/009214.html) describes it as“
an easy-to-use platform which empowers Causes with the ability to send out messages
on twitter thru their supporters twitter accounts”.

It lets individuals sign up to allow their favourite charitable cause(s) to send
out one message a day via their Twitter account. In this way, the charity gets its
chosen message or messages to be distributed by supporters who have opted in to
help them reach their network of family, friends and colleagues.

Pulver sees Justcoz.org as an “online relay system”, and says that he built it based
on his early experiences as a radio ham. “I was always proud”, he said, “of how
the ham radio community provided a platform for emergency communications and was
the one group who could be counted on to get a message out when all other forms
of communication failed”.

Justcoz.org isn’t specifically a fundraising tool, but charities and causes that
use it can of course include fundraising messages in the tweets that they send out
via it.

The site has only just launched so has just 328 subscribers, but already a number
of charities and nonprofits are testing it out. Currently [BullyingUK is top of the causes](http://justcoz.org/bullyinguk)
with 76 followers, with the US [Doctors Without Borders](http://justcoz.org/msf_usa)
in second place on 59. Even at this stage those numbers could be useful if some
of them have large followings themselves.

I signed up to support BullyingUK using the system yesterday and found it straightforward
and painless.

The system is straightforward and could clearly generate a measurable impact within
24 hours of signing up. But does it have a future? Will these donated tweets become
too common and not stand out from other tweets? For the moment it is worth testing
to find out what results it generates for your organisation.
