**Santander has relaunched its charitable foundation, with over £3 million of funds
available for UK charities in 2010. Formerly the Abbey Charitable Trust, the foundation
combines the charitable donations previously made in the UK by Abbey, Alliance &
Leicester and Bradford & Bingley savings business.**

The Santander Foundation will focus on funding charitable projects in line with
Santander Group’s global priorities of education and training, and financial capability.

The maximum donation for charities in the nine regions where Santander has a significant
presence will rise 50% to £30,000, and one-off grants will rise 150% to £10,000
for charities in areas where there is a branch of Santander.

Alan Eagle, Manager of the Santander Foundation, said: “”e have spent time listening
to what charities are looking for today and responded with a much improved grants
programme that opens up the funding for many more charities to benefit.

“Our new name and strategy for the Foundation reflects our expanded retail footprint
of 1,300 branches nationwide. I look forward to continuing to support the local
projects that matter most to our customers and staff.”
