The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) is working with the UN Office of the High Commissioner
for Refugees (UNHCR) to promote the agency’s global protection and assistance mission
and to encourage tax-efficient donations to the agency.

UNHCR is supported almost entirely by voluntary contributions.

CAF has set up a Trust to enable the organisation to take donations from members
of the UK public and to boost donations through tax-effective means.

UNHCR is currently running a two-week advertising campaign on the London Underground
encouraging people to donate to the fund set up by CAF.

“UNHCR is pleased to work with CAF in reaching out to donors in the UK,” said Peter
Kessler, the agency’s spokesman in London.

[UNHCR](http://www.unhcr.org), which has twice been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize,
has a global fundraising target of £1.845 billion this year. It channels approximately
one-third of its budget through trusted partner agencies including many UK-based
charities.

Commenting on the campaign, Mike Packham from the Charities Aid Foundation said,“
This is a great example of how CAF can enable fundraising and help a global agency
to drive donations from the generous UK public to refugee projects across the globe,
all the while ensuring that these donations are boosted through tax effective means
wherever possible.”
