A staff-wide canvass by employees of the Dublin Airport Authority has resulted in
the selection of Irish Autism Action as its charity of the year.

The DAA has decided to adopt a single charity for a year where its fundraising efforts
can make a significant difference rather than making a small difference to several.
A voluntary committee has been set up in the company to oversee the various fundraising
activities that take place over the year.

Last year’s charity of the year, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, received over €
110,000 from the DAA staff fundraising effort.

‘Fundraising events can take many shapes and forms; last year we had everything
from comedy nights out to cake sales, every little helps and it is always great
to see such a positive response from both staff and the general public,’ said charity
committee member Ronan O’Reilly.

Irish Autism Action was set up in 2001, and has an all-Ireland membership giving
support to a significant number of schools and local groups. Boyzone star Keith
Duffy, whose daughter has autism, is also heavily involved in promoting the charity.

Meanwhile, employees at DHL in Ireland have raised €100,000 for the charity.
