**If like me you have multiple social media ‘presences’ for both work and professional
aims, it can make sense to have a policy of what to use and when.**

Otherwise, we can end up spending all our time doing nothing else. A fellow twitterer
discovered this example from [Neal Wiser](http://nealwiser.wordpress.com/my-following-policy)
and I think it makes pretty good sense for anyone who is managing multiple sites
or contact lists.

Does anyone else have any ideas on how to manage these activities effectively?

One service that’s really helpful, if you want to manage your status updates on
multiple social media sites is [ping.fm](http://www.ping.fm). We use that when we
update our status on the [British Red Cross’ various social media presences](http://www.redcross.org.uk/online).

That’s useful, thanks for the tip. Off to try it now.
