**How do you make your sponsored marathon run stand out from the thousands of other
people’s efforts?**

Jenny Rice, a student at Kingston University, has managed to do just that by “writing”
her appeal for support into the landscape using a GPS wristwatch.

The effect is “skywriting in reverse” according to [Runner’s World](http://dailyviews.runnersworld.com/2009/01/mark-remyif-the.html).

It took her 70 minutes to record her route as she ran with a GPS watch, a [Garmin Forerunner 205](http://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Forerunner-205-Personal-Training/dp/B000F5HZHQ/219).
She then used [gpsvisulalizer.com](http://www.gpsvisulalizer.com) to create the
map.

Even better, she has demonstrated all this via YouTube.

You can make out her appeal:

“Hello I am running in the 2009 Flora London Marathon for ICYE [Inter-Cultural Youth
Exchange]

Please sponsor me…

www.justgiving.com/jennys_run “

A remarkable mashup of GPS, fundraising and digital media.
